My response to all the amazing vinyl toys out there (google urban vinyl), I love them, but I don't think I can commit to them, and they're kind of expensive..
I grew up with origami and I've always loved paper models, my sister though can fold one mean eagle, I'm talking talons, wing feathers and fanned tail, I was more about creating my own models. So about two years ago I decided to make these models that were made from one piece of paper and didn't need any glue or tape (so they would be easy to assemble). I was going to use them for a public "art project" but that has yet come to fruition. Anyways, a lot of people liked them and I decided to make a product out of it, so I could make enough money to go through with said "art project".
So I think these guys kind of embody my philosophy. They're simple, but they're also complex. They engage the user in the process, and they also give a sense of accomplishment when they're finished. They speak to good old hand work and craft. They're fun and inexpensive, and they can be disposed of without guilt (paper being recyclable and biodegradable). Plus they're printed on FSC certified paper and use soy inks, and boy did I fit as much as I could on that sheet.
